What accomplishment/project/area of work is your specialty or makes you proud?
We manage over 200,000 samples with an error rate of virtually zero.
Are there any special organizational strategies you use to be efficient at work?
I utilize whiteboards and charts for organization. At the beginning of each week, I schedule what’s coming up and what the priorities are. However, we need to be extremely flexible as our priorities can change at a moment’s notice.
What’s are your team’s latest achievements?
We have performed physical inventory and reconciled over 8,000 samples, organized two walk-in chambers, we have never had audit observation, and we labeled and stored 38, 000 samples in less than a month. We have done all this within our normal high pace work environment. Because we are at the end of the process, we are typically negatively affected by the tight deadlines. However, we have met every one of them.
How do you think those accomplishments might impact the contract pharmaceutical industry and the industry at large?
We meet seemingly impossible client deadlines. This keeps the clients wanting to do business with us. We are also getting drugs stored that are needed for patients. We are getting them stored within the filing timeframes which ultimately gets these drugs to the patients sooner.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
My team. They work hard. They work late. They come in on weekends and holidays. Most people here don’t understand how demanding stability is. My team works with little complaint. They are the reason that stability runs so well. I see the dedication and passion they bring daily to a job that is seen as less than glamorous. I just can’t say enough about them. My team is so awesome.
What is the best piece of advice you ever received from one of your mentors/colleagues? The best advice I have ever received was when I was seven or eight from my late grandfather. “Never let ANYONE make you feel less than. You are so much more than. More than what can fit in their tiny box.”
